我所在的经开三小，原是归昆明市呈贡县教育局管辖，本名为洛羊中心小学。划归到经开区，还是几年前的事。一个大型菜市场、几个学校边的小商铺，几个饭店和米线店以及随处可见的“修车”、“补胎“、”打气“构成了我们学校所在的洛羊街道。这里离昆明市的东风广场只有不到2个小时的车程，但是这里的学生离昆明市却是那么远。这里是中国典型的城乡结合部。
The 3rd Primary school in Kunming economic zone was originally governed by the Chenggong Education beauru. Now it's part of the economic zone in Kunming. The community is really simple. We have a market here, a few shops and restaurants. Garbage is everywhere since a Optimus passes our school every 3 seconds. The students are trapped in the community and blocked from the city that it's only 1 hour away. This is the typical rural-urban fringe zone in China.

Teachers
虽然我们学校硬件条件很差，但是却有很棒的教师团队。这些当地老师都是正规招考过来的，具有很强的教学能力和教研能力。教师团队年龄结构合理，90%以上教师年龄在40岁以下，能够及时更新教学信息，接受新的教学理论。学校的教研活动安排合理，一到假期当地老师们还会被安排外出学习取经，这使得学校的教学质量在经开区名列前茅。
Our school gets the top 3 grades in the whole economic zone every year. With limited facilities and resources, we can make it because we have this wonderful teacher team. They know the education well and they dedicate themselves to their students. They are experienced and open to new ideas of teaching. Also we have regular seminars to listen to each other and assess the lessons and the textbooks. The teachers here try their best to improve the quality of educaiton.

昆明市经开区第三小学，学校原名为洛羊中心小学，是一所公办小学。目前第三小学共有六个校点，除去一个幼儿园，小学部有五个分校，我们所在的是中心校点，相对而言教学质量更高，校园环境更好。虽然是中心校点，但是学校的硬件设施较差，全校近600名学生，只有一个篮球场，三个乒乓球桌，没有专用的音乐教室和科学教室等活动教室。
The 3rd Primary School is a public school. We have 6 campuses including a kindergarten. We TFC fellows are in the central campus, where the quality of education is relatively better.
The facilities are the main problem for our school. All art room. music room and lab became classrooms because we have more and more students, mostly of whom are the children of the workers coming from other region. The small "playground" is made of cement. The PE teachers have to make the students run diagonal line of the playground to test 50 meters.

这里是城乡结合部，但这里没有农业重金属，反而TFboys的海报在学生的书皮上随处可见。这里没有杀马特，三四年级的女生却开始打耳钉。“从来没出过昆明“、”日本是什么“、”老师教我三步扣篮“…………这些我们以为再正常不过的事情，在这里却是如此新鲜。
城乡结合部的孩子没有乡村孩子的质朴，也没有城市孩子的视野和良好的品德修养。但是他们却生活在村子里，下了课在田野里玩耍，到了课堂要和城市里的孩子一争高下。这对他们而言，是不公平的。
他们是典型的留守儿童，父母外出务工，无暇顾及孩子的学习，或者另一方面，这些父母也没有达到能够辅导孩子学习的文化水平。所以一些孩子常常很脏，学习成绩也不尽如人意。
Since we are in the typical rural-urban fringe zone in China, there is a special and local cultural environment here. What we are familiar with in the city cannot be seen here. Children here look forward to the city and cannot reach it.
In class, they need to compete with the kids in city who of course have a better view of the world and character of the good. It seems unfair but it proves the power of the education.
Most of the children are the typical left-behind children with parents working at places far from their home. Some children stay at home alone or with their grandparents, who usually don't care about their study and cannot take care of their grandchildren, for days or even weeks. The relatively older kids, maybe in Grade 4, need to take care of the younger ones, usually in Grade 1 or much younger. So some of kids here are always dirty and cannot study well.
